Happy Wednesday my loves!

Hope your week is going amazing so far despite the terrible cold in the midwest…brrr!!! This is a two part post that I have been excited about starting. I want to show you a delicious yet healthy recipe jam packed with nutrients, PLUS a workout routine. (Please remember I am NOT a trainer, I am merely journaling my personal goals and ideas. So if you try any of the mentioned workout routines please do so with caution and listen to your body, maybe even ask a trainer first, just be safe! 🙂 )

The first of the year I decided I needed to change my workout schedule. Don’t get me wrong I love to workout, but I also love sleep and I am terrible getting up early in the am. Literally like 5 snooze buttons horrible, it’s kind of pathetic. But, working out is something I need to mold into my schedule first thing in the morning so I can get it done. I work late and when the workday is over I want to either relax or go have dinner and drinks. So alas, I have decided that prep work is crucial in accomplishing your diet and fitness goals, especially mine in the am!

The following Recipe is one my favorites…easy to make the night before, super filling, and super tasty. Did I mention it’s very healthy too??

Monster Packed Salad:

1/4 Cup Quinoa

Super Greens Salad Mix (Any type of salad you prefer, but stick with darker greens, Spinach, Baby Kale, etc.)

Cherry Tomatos

Cucumbers (You can substitute your favorite Veggies here: Green/Red Peppers, Broccoli, chickpeas, etc.)

1 Chicken Breast

Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar

Coconut Oil

Spices for Chicken: Cumin, Tumeric, Cinnamon, Red Pepper

Start by adding your dry salad toppings into a separate travel container.Fitness-4

Next: You want to season your chicken and then bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes (shorter or longer depending on thickness) I put coconut oil on top of the chicken.

Seasonings:

Tumeric is known to help brain function, pain reliever and natural antiseptic, cancer prevention, liver detoxifer & more.

Cumin  controls blood pressure, improves iron levels, kills bacteria

Cinnamon regulates blood sugar, reduces pain linked to arthritis, lowers LDL cholesterol, and so much more!

Red Pepper helps with metabolism and digestion.

While the chicken is baking, the Quinoa will take about 15 minutes to cook. I use a 1/4 cup of Quinoa, with 1/2 cup Water (I drizzle a tad of olive oil, definitely optional). Put on stove at MEDIUM Heat and let come to a boil. After it starts to boil reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15 minute. DO NOT open up lid to look at how pretty it is until it’s done, that will take the moisture out and won’t cook through all the way.

Quinoa is a Supergrain jam packed with Protein, Fiber, AND Iron! Not only will it leave you feeling full and light, you will feel that way till your next meal and it will provide you with the right energy you need for the rest of the day. The next day at lunch…drizzle the dressing on the salad, heat up chicken/quinoa, drop on top and then let me know what you think! Fitness-14

As for getting up this morning and working out, I DID IT, so you can to. Like I said, being prepped the night before is crucial, so I packed my gym bag and laid out everything I needed for the morning. I really hope this helped you, motivated you, inspired you in any way! Snow Party

Happy Tuesday my loves!

It is unbelievably cold where I am at today and believe it or not its warmer than it was yesterday! Over the past weekend the snow started to hit us hard yet again. I was going to a ‘Sprinkle’ Party for my cousin who is expecting her second child and it’s going to be a gorgeous baby girl, then I was off to my grandmother’s house for dinner. It was a cold, snowy day and I wanted to dress up a bit, but still have a casual touch. I got these Ivanka Trump Boots for Christmas that are honestly to die for…I work at a clothing boutique and being on my feet all day, and I mean all day, these boots are perfect height and go with literally everything.  With their casual, yet chic appearance, PLUS they also won’t break the bank.  And I need to talk about this Iro Paris L/S Open Knit Shirt because it is my new favorite…I snagged it the day prior because I thought the cranberry color would be fun and different to wear to the sprinkle party, but it is honestly my new favorite! So comfy, fun, funky, but casual and I love that you can dress it up or down. Comes in black and white as well……hmm should I or shouldn’t I? 😉

These photos were taken by my mother out in the snow, it was beautiful coming down, and definitely lots of fun playing in the snow afterwards! (Total kid at heart) Enjoy!

2014 in the Making

dlondie-InstagramHappy Monday my loves! Even though its already been a week since….HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope everyone had an amazingly wonderful Holiday and a Happy New Year! I am back refreshed, inspired, and determined for a positive, exciting 2014! Starting the New Year typically involved unrealistic resolutions for me in the past.  This is not me being negative, but merely searching for a more involved and practical way of fulfilling all the Personal, Work, Health, and Relationship Goals that I want to accomplish throughout the year.  Instead of writing out resolutions I only HOPE to fulfill, I have taken the time to reflect on 2013 and on the POSITIVE things. Things I HAVE accomplished. But also the negative things that took place, the obstacles I encountered along the way that deterred me from fulfilling my goals. Digging deeper into my past and looking at why things worked or didn’t work, truly made me aware about Habits of mine needing some attention and that I plan working on throughout year.

I wish you all a very blessed 2014 and that all your hopes and dreams come true. To love more, work harder, be happier, more patient and to see the beauty in life that surrounds you everyday!

I have a lot of plans in 2014, starting with blogging everyday again, and doing my absolute best to give you amazing, funny, and inspiring content. I also have future plans that I hope come to pass in early Spring. So please, I hope you continue to join me along this ride! I love having you here and hope you feel a little lighter, a little happier, and little more inspired after leaving my page!
